Ho’oponopono And Disincarnate Spirits

The tradition of ho’oponopono goes back for many generations. Originally all life was in balance and so there was no need for it. When things slowly started to go wrong ho’oponopono was created to correct errors of balance. Many believe it to have been inspired by processes run on another galaxy. It’s also thought by some to have first been used by a tribe of indigenous Hawaiians known as the Mu.

Someone who knows the original forms of ho’oponopono is known as a wisdom keeper. These people have lineages, although the further you go back in time these will be seen to merge. Aunty Aka (Haleaka Iolani Puli) was a recent example. Her grandmother was a sister to Normah Nalamaku Simeona who helped to modernise ho’oponopono to fit our contemporary mind set. This made it more accessible for Westerners born outside of Hawaii yet in doing so, inevitably some elements of the traditional form are lost.

One such difference is that Westerners tend to believe that they have rights, whereas traditional people hold that they have obligations.*

According to the Hawaiian Wisdom Keepers, these responsibilities are to both our ancestors and also toward future generations. This is because we represent both in our lifetimes.

No one really knows exactly how the ancient wisdom keepers (kahunas) perceived their world. It seems likely that the perceptual filters to the light of Divinity were set to a slightly wider (or at least different) band than those of modern humankind. For this reason, much traditional ho’oponopono concerns itself with the influence of past lives, and particularly those earthbound spirits that remain in the vicinity of their deaths because they have no idea that they should have passed over into the light.

Most of us can sense when we’ve come into a ‘creepy’ environment, yet fail to appreciate the source of our apprehension. When a wisdom-keeper encounters such a space they know at once what has transpired, and they have rituals to remedy what has occurred.

Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len during the time he worked on a psychiatric ward for the criminally insane at Hawaii State Hospital reported that toilets could be heard flushing themselves, and other strange noises and phenomena taking place. These were paranormal activities due to disincarnate spirits who had remained attached to the Unit because they had no idea that they were no longer required to be there.

When you take the trouble to examine recordings of Morrnah’s workshops, you discover that much of her time is devoted to cleaning up and releasing such spirits from various situations.

In the world of the wisdom-keeping kahunas everything is sacred because it’s made of Aloha.

Aloha means more than ‘hello’ to a native Hawaiian. It’s an acknowledgement that everything is holy yet more even than that. It’s as if you perceive Divinity to be is saying ‘Hello’ to you.

This  perceptual contact that may be experienced as a rap on the head, or a poke in the stomach, in response to your eyes settling upon an object.

All objects are connected, even thoughts, inorganic beings, man-made objects fashioned from the earth’s resources, as well as trees, other plants, birds, animals, fish, insects, and human beings.

Disincarnate beings are no less holy than any others. Nor are ‘crazy’ people, our perceived ‘enemies’ or others who evoke emotions such as fear, mistrust, anger, or hatred.

This is because they, like you and me, are composed of white light at their sources. It’s the karmic-data which filters the light and casts shadows on the wall of perception which causes the problem. What we experience as difficulties are due to us thinking the shadows to be reality, rather than the light which causes them to exist at all.

Dr. Hew Len warned us that the psychic world isn’t easy. It’s not for all people and not to be sought out. If you think you’re experiencing any psychic difficulties, or feel that a departed loved one has not fully passed over then you may do worse than contact a traditional wisdom-keeper.
