How To Change Your Karmic Data
Has one day become like the next? Is there a pattern to your life? Are your finances inevitably going to go up, or down? Do you regard yourself as being a winner, or a loser? Do other people seem to influence your actions? Are your behaviours the same, no matter the context?
If any of these apply then you are likely to be suffering the effects of Karmic Data.
People who remain in the same ‘ruts’ frustrated that no matter how they attempt to get themselves clear, nothing seems to work (and especially if it’s worked for others), are attracting their own problems.
Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len (who has contributed much to the spread of ho’oponopono) was fond of saying ‘Have you noticed that whenever there is a problem, you’re always there’.
Of course, this is a ‘funny phrase’ yet there’s more to it than meets the eye. It’s closely related to Douglas Harding’s assertion that ‘you have no head’.
Others may assure you that it’s there on your shoulders. You can see it in a mirror. It appears in photographs that you recognise as being ‘you’. Yet, you can’t get beyond Harding’s insight that rather than being ‘a person’ with all the responsibilities that entails, you’re simply the recipient of visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, olfactory and gustatory data. This data may be sorted into stories about winning and losing, battles, legal actions, life and death, billionaires and bankrupts, politics, romances, youth and old age, and all manner of other things.
Some of the more captivating stories come from science. In 1927, Georges Lemaitre had an idea that would change the way we view the universe. In the distant past, there was only one point in the universe. According to him, the universe has stretched and expanded to reach its current size and that it will keep doing so for a while to come.
This came to be known as The Big Bang Theory. It assumes that we all began around 14 billion years ago. It got a boost when in 1929 the American astronomer Edwin Hubble confirmed the theory by observation. The Hubble Space Telescope (launched in 1990) is named after him.
Data received by the telescope continue to confirm his 1929 findings.
Suddenly, there’s a new telescope in space. The James Webb telescope launched on 25 December 2021. It is named after James E. Webb, who was a director at NASA and created the Apollo program that put astronauts on the moon.
The problem is that the new telescope constantly provides new data which contradicts Lemaitre’s idea (which became The Big Bang Theory). It’s not that Big Bang is necessarily ‘wrong’ but rather that the model it assumes is inaccurate in many parameters.
‘So what?’ you ask.
Quite simply, it’s an example of how stories have to be completely re-written in the face of new data. It’s happened many times in the past. Newton’s Laws were superseded by those of Einstein. Religious beliefs get adapted to form new sects, or even completely new religions and practices.
Yet, Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len’s statement about problems (and Douglas Harding’s concern about ‘headlessness’) will always prevail, no matter the dominant story of the day.
We might assume that life always begins with us, right now. Yet, that’s just another story. It would be more accurate to state that it begins right now and 14 billion years ago – but that too is incomplete. I prefer the statement of Don Juan, the shaman in the Carlos Castaneda books who claimed The Sorcerer’s Explanation that each of us is simply a point within infinity.
More accurately, it can be thought of as a point within infinity with infinity being a point within us. As America’s first psychologist (William James) put it ‘It’s Turtles all the Way Down’.
To get back to us, each of us exists as a soul comprised of a conscious and unconscious mind. Your conscious mind has apparent choice. It can negate whatever comes to it. Your unconscious mind is a recording. It’s subject to the constraints of its memory and inability to discriminate. When you suggest it to do something it executes your command. When you tell it NOT to do something, it will inevitably do what you’ve instructed it NOT to do because it cannot recognise negatives. This is why it’s sometimes referred to as your ‘Inner Child’ as its interface shares many characteristics with that of a toddler.
Don’t think about a blue and yellow striped zebra BTW 😉
Our superconscious provides us with a sense of past generations and context. It’s said to be the abode of our ancestors, who must approve of any changes our souls wish to make.
Divinity is the name we give (in ho’oponopono) to the background provided by the giant Turtle. It’s infinity itself, unknowable, omnipresent, everywhere, and brings with it inspiration. (I prefer to call it Inspiration, rather than Divinity).
When you (as a soul) wish to change, it’s not a great idea to yearn for a new car, watch, yacht, aeroplane, or bemoan the losses of money, health, or happiness. Your job is to delete the karmic data in your memory bank which is providing the illusion of such things.
In that way, your subconscious can change everything required, your superconscious may agree to any changes, and Divine Inspiration can fill the void left with brilliant white light.
That’s the process of ho’oponopono, on a turtle’s shell.

I have been using hooponopono for about 8 months now and I find it to be life-changing and I continue to learn all I can about it.

Thank you for the teaching and reminder that our source is infinite, eternal and that our unconscious is directly linked to it. Thank you to teach us how to tap into our unconscious and the Source. Thank you
