Ho’oponopono And Food

It’s pretty well-known that ho’oponopono was developed in the Hawaiian Islands. Over the centuries it’s changed its character from being a way of resolving tribal disputes without the necessity of resorting to war, through being a form of spiritually enriched family therapy, and onto the modern form popularised by Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona.

One of the issues the ancient Hawaiian knowledge bearers was often called upon to resolve was those of fishing disputes. These occurred when fishermen from a rival group encroached upon the established territories of another group.

This indicates that ho’oponopono never prescribed vegetarianism as a way of being. Land rights also were resolved through ho’oponopono. Although these sometimes included succulent fruits and plantain, they also included pigs (which were a great delicacy in those ancient times).

Food was always offered to Divinity (Mana) and sometimes to ancestors (The Aumakua). This food was consecrated for them and never eaten (although it may have been a portion of a larger feast that people ate).

It wasn’t simply as a part of ho’oponopono that food was blessed. Frequently (in devout families) people dedicated their appreciation and gratitude for the bounty of good food by saying a kind of ‘grace’.

In ancient times everything was considered to be alive and therefore holy. With the correct mindset you might talk with anything and everyone. Today, we’ve largely lost the ability to access this ability. Our world is governed by scientific theories rather than nature spirits (the Devas that inhabit the Aumakua along with our ancestors and other members of the collective).

Objects (such as a chair, our bodies, an oil tanker, or drinking utensil) which were conceived in a mental space but are made out of elements found (within the mud of our planet) all were considered to be alive. They could be equally damaged by rough use, or bad thinking.

This is why Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len might talk with rooms, tables and chairs prior to giving a workshop. He was one of the privileged ones who was still able to have conversations with such objects because he could understand what they wished to convey to him as clearly as if they were talking.

It follows from everything I’ve written here that without appearing ‘odd’ or ‘pious’ or ‘sanctimonious’ it behoves us to dedicate the food we eat to the Divinity that gave us life, as well as everything we consume.

Fortunately, this can be easily achieved. We simply repeat Morrnah’s prayer, or the four phrases of the ‘ho’oponopono prayer’, or simply the word ‘Love’ before eating anything. Your subconscious inner-child (Unhipili) and the superconscious (Aumakua) as well as Divinity (Mana) will all recognise that you have this insight, and are acting upon it.

Freedom is even happier when it’s shared. A small Facebook conversation has already reached many people. Joy and freedom are now spreading around the world. Just fill out the form below if you would like to join an exceptional community of ordinary people who are healing and changing their worlds. A whole new way of living, love, and support is waiting for you.
